4 ways to easily remove excess water from your body!

Posted by Kamil Siuda day

Water is the source of life. It's essential for development and proper functioning. It participates in chemical and metabolic reactions. Water in the body fulfills important functions, but excessive accumulation in tissues can lead to weight gain and other unpleasant symptoms. How can you eliminate water from the body in such a situation?

What are the causes of water retention in tissues?

There are many reasons for this accumulation of water, m.in. :

Disturbed balance between sodium and potassium – excess sodium and potassium deficiency.

Women's cycle, hormonal contraception – in the second phase of the cycle, estrogen levels increase relative to progesterone. This process can result in water retention. With hormonal contraception, when estrogen levels are consistently high, this can lead to a permanent state of excessive water retention.

High temperatures – hot weather leads to the dilation of veins, which in turn causes water to penetrate into the tissues.

Diseases – chronic venous insufficiency, kidney disease or hypothyroidism can also cause water retention in tissues.

What are the symptoms of water retention in the body?

Excess water in the body is most often associated with a sudden and otherwise difficult-to-explain weight gain. But that's not all. Swelling can occur, most often in the arms and legs (shoes that were perfect yesterday suddenly become too tight), but eyelids can also become swollen.

These are not the only signs that water retention may be a problem. Other symptoms may include heavy legs, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, or headaches.

What to do to remove excess water from the body?

If you are wondering how to get rid of water from your body, we have some tips for you.

Change your diet – avoid salt
Limit your intake of salt and products containing it: salty snacks, canned goods, ready-made meals, and fast food. Start monitoring what you buy – read labels, and if you find monosodium glutamate listed, put it back on the shelf. Eat more vegetables and fruits, especially those rich in potassium: bananas, potatoes, celery, kiwi, and tomatoes. Also eat fruits rich in water, such as watermelon.

Drink more water
The body's water needs to be constantly replenished. Ideally, drink approximately 2 liters of water daily, in small portions throughout the day. Low-sodium mineral water is best for this. You can also try herbal teas, such as those with dandelion or nettle.

Get moving
Exercise is also good for your health if you're struggling with water retention. Exercise improves circulation and lymphatic flow. Furthermore, excess water is eliminated through sweat. If you don't want to sign up for a fitness class right away, a brisk walk of at least half an hour every day is a good idea. If you're stuck in an office, don't forget to stretch your legs and walk around occasionally, perhaps while talking on the phone.

Take advantage of supplementation
You'll find products on the market that will help you lose excess water. They should contain ingredients like yerba mate, nettle, or dandelion, which help eliminate water from the body, or parsley root, which supports healthy kidney function. Nettle, dandelion, or parsley will also support urinary tract health. You can find all these ingredients in dietary supplements, for example. Hydrodrain.

We hope these tips will help you avoid water retention!
