Step by step facial care - process, cosmetics, supplementation

Posted by Kamil Siuda day

Maintaining healthy, radiant, and youthful-looking skin requires constant care. Facial care involves several treatments, morning and evening routines, that help care for your skin daily. What does the entire process involve?

Proper facial care

Proper facial care is based on a thorough diagnosis of your individual skin needs. If you're unsure how to care for your skin, visit a beauty salon for a consultation where you can receive appropriate advice. Facial care involves carefully selected cosmetics, as well as their proper application in terms of quantity, application method, and sequence. Conscious facial care doesn't preclude regular beauty treatments at a beautician, but it's a crucial foundation for maintaining your appearance at home. We'll show you what a proper facial care routine should look like, step by step!

Facial care cosmetics

Essential facial care products that should be in your bathroom include a makeup remover or milk, a cleansing gel, a toner or micellar water, and a day and night cream. It's also worth supplementing your facial care products with a serum and mask, used once or twice a week for thorough cleansing, hydration, and nourishment. The best facial care products are based on natural ingredients and are well-suited to your skin type. Moisturizing and lubricating products are ideal for dry skin, while pore-clearing, astringent, and antibacterial products are recommended for oily or combination skin. Sensitive and couperose-prone skin, on the other hand, requires gentle treatment and capillary strengthening.

Daily facial care step by step

What should a step-by-step facial care routine look like? Cleansing is key, allowing serums and creams to penetrate deep into the pores. A step-by-step daily facial care routine should also include balancing the skin's pH with a toner, as simply removing waterproof cosmetics with a cotton pad can be slightly irritating. When it comes to facial care, the order is crucial, as the skin should first be thoroughly cleansed of sebum, impurities, and makeup, and only then soothed, moisturized, and nourished. So, how should you care for your face step-by-step in the evening and morning?

Morning facial care - what makes it stand out?

Remember that morning facial care is just as important as evening! While the ingredients in your night cream work while you sleep, remnants of that cream, as well as sweat, sebum, germs from your bedding, and other impurities, cling to your skin, requiring cleansing again upon waking.Morning facial care step by step:

  • Washing the skin with a cleansing gel
  • Toning
  • Applying day cream

In the case of a cream, its primary purpose is to moisturize and build a barrier that protects the epidermis from water loss. Another important function is UV protection – make sure it has the right SPF! Proper morning care should leave you feeling fresh and smooth for a long time.

Evening facial care - what to focus on?

Before bed, you should treat your skin a little differently than you would in the morning. Evening facial care primarily involves:

  • Makeup removal
  • Cleaning
  • Toning
  • Peeling/Mask
  • Serum
  • Nourishing night cream

Deep cleansing involves not only removing makeup residue but also any other impurities that have accumulated after a long day of activity. This should be done with the appropriate makeup remover. A step-by-step evening facial care routine also includes removing makeup residue and thoroughly cleansing pores. After balancing the pH with a toner, you can gently pat in a nourishing night cream. Its main purpose is to regenerate and nourish the skin thanks to its high concentration of ingredients.

Acne skin care - what is different about the whole process?

The daily morning and evening routines are very similar for different skin types. However, acne-prone skin care should focus more on specially formulated cosmetics and the most thorough cleansing possible. It's crucial to use only disposable paper towels for drying or those designed specifically for the face, washed daily at high temperatures. Acne-prone skin care requires an even more thorough approach to reducing the causes of bacterial infections and superinfections. Avoid using comedogenic cosmetics, meaning they can have the opposite effect than intended. For example, some acids can dry out oily skin, causing increased sebum production, clogged pores, and ultimately, the formation of blackheads. A step-by-step acne-prone skin care routine should therefore include lighter, non-comedogenic formulas for makeup removers, gels, creams, and serums. It's important that the cosmetics contain soothing and antiseptic ingredients.

Facial care for men - what else is worth including?

Men should also take care of their skin! Men's facial care should include the steps described above, but take into account that their skin is thicker and less susceptible to various external factors. Therefore, a cleansing gel designed specifically for men, with a strong cleansing effect that will reduce sebum production, is sufficient. Using the right shaving gel and aftershave is also crucial, as it will soothe razor blade irritation and moisturize the skin. Men's facial care should finish with the application of a special moisturizing and anti-wrinkle cream.

Facial care before makeup

It's crucial not to neglect thorough cleansing before applying foundation. Treating your face before applying makeup can prolong its wear by moisturizing the epidermis, protecting the complexion from UV rays, and protecting it from the drying effects of makeup itself. After applying your day cream, wait a moment for it to absorb before applying subsequent layers of makeup.

Skin supplements that support the care process

It's also worth taking care of your skin from the inside! The key is good hydration – drink at least 2 liters of water a day to keep it supple for a long time! Which facial vitamins are a good choice? Choose the right skin supplements – tablets, capsules, or jelly beans for the skin. Products containing antioxidant vitamins E and C, as well as zinc and selenium, which have a beneficial effect on skin structure. An important ingredient that facial vitamins should contain is biotin, which strengthens the connective tissue. It is also very important vitamin D, which supports the production of collagen – the main building block of skin. Combined with meticulous daily care tailored to the skin's needs, supplementation and hydration constitute an important preventative anti-aging treatment!
